I had such a fun time capturing these beauties again this year. Their mom was the lucky Facebook fan to procure a free session for them in August. Throughout the session, I told their mom over and over that she is going to be in so much trouble when these girls are older. Not only are they beautiful, they are so sweet on the inside!
These are some of my favorites from the session. This part was super fun for me because the girls were telling each other lots of secrets and just cracking up.
I love these next two because they show very natural facial expressions from the girls. Sometimes the best pictures are not the ones where the subject is looking directly into the camera, but the ones that show them as they are.

Newborn Baby Girl
I am so lucky to have been in NJ last month when my newest niece was born. She had a hard time settling into a nap for her photos, so we finally swaddled her up tight and she finally gave in and fell asleep. (I also sent my sister into her room to take a nap, too!)
She is absolutely beautiful, don't you think?!?
My sister made these two hats!
Thank you to Little Purple Dragonfly for this awesome flower headband.
The blanket in the next image was my sister's blankie so I had to make sure I used it in a few pictures.
BIG yawn!

Back To School
Last summer my daughter started Kindergarten in the same month that she turned 5. I had this great idea to take pictures of her in a school uniform-type outfit. A year later, I have finally gone through the photos and have them ready to post. Are you getting ready to send your child off to start preschool or elementary school for the first time? Recognize this important time by taking some photos of your child. :)
Nothing says school, like a uniform...
a desk...
and an apple for the teacher.
Love the leopard print shoes!
I had to make sure I had a photograph of her gorgeous, long hair. A couple weeks after we took this photos, she had it cut and donated it to Locks of Love! I was so proud of her!
She LOVES her American GIrl dolls. Felicity was her first, so I needed to make sure that we included her in some pictures!

I realized recently that I have been posting a ton of pictures on Facebook and neglecting this blog. I am going to try to change that! Not only am I going to try to post more of my pictures, but also other info that might be helpful for people planning portrait sessions and learning about photography.
Here are some of my favorites from a First Communion mini-session with the most handsome 8 year-old boy that I know! You can see more of my First Communion Session portraits on my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Laura-Ann-Photography/61759168928

On April 6, 2013 Celebrate the Most Important Smiles in Your Life!
I am happy to announce something very special that Laura Ann Photography will be doing this April 6th. I have signed up to participate in a campaign to raise money for Operation Smile. Operation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palette and other facial deformities for children around the globe.
For a minimum donation of $24, you will receive the gift of a studio portrait mini-session and a 5x7 portrait of your child. 100% of this donation will go to support the work of Operation Smile. A cleft lip surgery can cost as little as $240 because the medical and support staff of Operation Smile volunteer their services. I would love to raise enough to provide at least one surgery for a child in need. My goal would be to have at least 10 mini-sessions during the event.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 6th. Twenty minute session times are available beginning at 10:00 am and will be held at Excel Body Fitness in Cary, NC. This is a great opportunity to do something special for someone else and to get an updated portrait of your child.
Because this is a charity event, one session can only be reserved for up to 2 participants. If you would like to photograph more than 2 children, you must register for multiple mini-sessions. Only one gift print will be given for each $24 donation received.
Please email me at info@lauraannphotography.com for more information or go directly to Sign up Genius and choose your session time. Session times are not guaranteed until your donation is received. Upon signing up, I will contact you more specific details about the event. (Watch your bulk/spam folder for emails from me if you do sign up.)
Check out some of my local business partners. I would like to especially thank the team at Excel Body Fitness because they are graciously providing me with a space to do these studio mini-sessions. Belinda at Belinda Lee Designs is going to create some great, custom gift bags for participants to take home! I have a few more partnerships in the works as well.

A Few Tips for Newborn Sessions:
- Always schedule them early to make sure I have your due date on my calendar.
- They are best within the first 14 days of life.
- They can last from 3-4 hours to allow for feedings, diaper changes and falling asleep time.
- Clothing is optional - hats, headbands, bows, blankets, and diaper covers are fantastic. Look on Etsy for some great handmade items for your session.
- Have a black or white long sleeve shirt or tank top available for any adult that may be used as a prop for the baby.
- They make a great gift! I do offer gift certificates. :)
Sweet Baby Boy

This little boy was so sweet. I have photographed his big brother a couple times, so I was thrilled to be able to take his newborn pictures. It took him quite a while to fall into a deep sleep. Once he did, I took a few different shots of him from different angles. When we tried to reposition, he woke right up. This is one reason that newborn sessions are generally longer.

Little Miss C and big brother Mr. C! I was so glad when their parents asked me to come back and take pictures of their newest addition. I took pictures of big brother a couple times in the past. Such a sweet baby girl. Big brother didn't want much to do with me (or her) that morning, but I snuck in a couple photos of him anyway!
