Fall Family Session

This session was a very active and very fun one! Whenever there is a toddler involved, you should expect sessions to be this way. I was excited from the minute we scheduled this session because it had been a while since I photographed a family with a toddler. Mom was very aware of how sessions with toddlers roll - they are in charge basically! I was actually looking forward to following him around and working hard for some great expressions and smiles while he was in action.

We split the session between trying to get some family portraits and letting the boys just be boys. Big brother had quite a bit of energy, too. Both boys were super sweet and, despite the heat that evening, gave great expressions, put up with my pretty horrible jokes, and had fun, too!

A few family shots to get started...

LOVE LOVE LOVE the light in this image!

My favorite image of big brother

Love his curls - which have been cut now. So glad they thought to capture him with the curls. He looks more grown up without them. (Something to consider when you are thinking about your own session)

Kids love to play on these "rusty, old wheel things".

Done for now! Have a great weekend!

Senior Artist

I was thrilled when my neighbor began talking with me about taking senior pictures of her daughter. They had already had some photos done through school, but they really wanted the pictures to reflect who she was. We talked and shared ideas about the session beforehand (in person and through Pinterest.)

The day of the session the weather was fantastic and so was my model. I had a great time working with her - she was fantastic!

Her mother gave me the sweetest card afterwards and I hope she doesn't mind if I quote her here: "You captured her beauty, creativity, talent and inner beauty. I will treasure these photos for years to come."

This is what I hope to do for each of my clients. I am so glad that I could do it for them. :)

Urban Scene!

Here are some images from my second "freebie" session from early September. I met this young man when he was a 1 year old. He was a cutie pie then and has grown into such a handsome young man. His mom did an awesome job choosing his clothing for the session. Notice how everything works all the way down to his shoes. (Don't forget about the shoes! :) )

I had a blast photographing him. Take a look at his "model" poses and awesome expressions!

I should've taken a photo of his dad giving him this pose idea. He got it down quickly!

LOVE this one!

Showing off his dance moves!

SISTERS

I had such a fun time capturing these beauties again this year. Their mom was the lucky Facebook fan to procure a free session for them in August. Throughout the session, I told their mom over and over that she is going to be in so much trouble when these girls are older. Not only are they beautiful, they are so sweet on the inside!

These are some of my favorites from the session. This part was super fun for me because the girls were telling each other lots of secrets and just cracking up.

I love these next two because they show very natural facial expressions from the girls. Sometimes the best pictures are not the ones where the subject is looking directly into the camera, but the ones that show them as they are.

Newborn Baby Girl

I am so lucky to have been in NJ last month when my newest niece was born. She had a hard time settling into a nap for her photos, so we finally swaddled her up tight and she finally gave in and fell asleep. (I also sent my sister into her room to take a nap, too!)

She is absolutely beautiful, don't you think?!?

My sister made these two hats!

Thank you to Little Purple Dragonfly for this awesome flower headband.

The blanket in the next image was my sister's blankie so I had to make sure I used it in a few pictures.

BIG yawn!

Back To School

Last summer my daughter started Kindergarten in the same month that she turned 5. I had this great idea to take pictures of her in a school uniform-type outfit. A year later, I have finally gone through the photos and have them ready to post. Are you getting ready to send your child off to start preschool or elementary school for the first time? Recognize this important time by taking some photos of your child. :)

Nothing says school, like a uniform...

a desk...

and an apple for the teacher.

Love the leopard print shoes!

I had to make sure I had a photograph of her gorgeous, long hair. A couple weeks after we took this photos, she had it cut and donated it to Locks of Love! I was so proud of her!

She LOVES her American GIrl dolls. Felicity was her first, so I needed to make sure that we included her in some pictures!

I realized recently that I have been posting a ton of pictures on Facebook and neglecting this blog. I am going to try to change that! Not only am I going to try to post more of my pictures, but also other info that might be helpful for people planning portrait sessions and learning about photography.

Here are some of my favorites from a First Communion mini-session with the most handsome 8 year-old boy that I know! You can see more of my First Communion Session portraits on my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Laura-Ann-Photography/61759168928
